Wes is a United Methodist minister who served parishes in the North Carolina Conference for five years prior to his appointment in 1981 to Duke Divinity School as director of development and alumni programs. He holds degrees from Methodist University (B.A. and honorary D.D.) and Duke Divinity School (M.Div.). Wes served for eight years on the board of trustees for the Alban Institute in Washington, D.C. He is a former member of the board of the Methodist Home for Children, Raleigh, N.C., and an occasional committee member with the Association of Theological Schools in the U.S. and Canada and with the Boy Scouts in Durham. Wes is married to Jane Gouldin Brown, a registered nurse, and they are the parents of two adult sons. Wes and Jane are members of Epworth United Methodist Church in Durham.

David came to Duke Divinity from Ravenscroft School in Raleigh, N.C., where he was the director of development. Prior to his work at Ravenscroft, David spent almost 20 years in business — as an engineer at General Motors and at Northern Telecom, and as the owner/president of a chain of retail stores. David serves as president of the Tom Russell Charitable Foundation and is an active volunteer with the Capital Area Soccer League in Raleigh. David and his wife Dana Wynne Lindquist, T’85, are members of White Memorial Presbyterian Church in Raleigh. They have two young adult children, Hannah Margaret and Caroline. David has two degrees from Duke — B.S.E. ’86 and M.B.A. ’91. While an undergraduate at Duke, he played four years of varsity football as a scholarship athlete.
Betsy Poole

Betsy comes to Duke Divinity School following nine years at Trinity School of Durham and Chapel Hill, where she directed annual giving as assistant director of advancement. Prior to her work at Trinity, Betsy had experience in business development, including several years as vice president and regional marketing manager for Nations Bank/Bank of America. She earned a B.A. from the University of Virginia in 1981 and is married to Allan Poole, pastor of Blacknall Presbyterian Church in Durham. Allan and Betsy have three young adult children, Ellie, Sam, and Sarah.

Sarah comes to the Divinity School from Duke Medical Center Development and Alumni Affairs, where she has worked since 2008. She is from Charlotte and earned a B.A. from North Carolina State University. Sarah is married to Blair, who is a Durham native. They attend Trinity Avenue Presbyterian Church in Durham. Sarah enjoys visiting local restaurants, spending time with family, and exploring the outdoors.

Amy Jantzen comes to us from Duke Divinity Admissions, where she worked since 2010. She grew up just outside Chicago and graduated from Wheaton College (IL) with a B.A. in Psychology and Christian Education. She lives in Durham with her husband Matt, who is a doctoral student at Duke Divinity School. In her spare time, Amy enjoys music, sewing, and frequenting the many delicious restaurants in Durham.
